Hotel Hawaii (Chitre, Panama)
|
If there was an award for best
places that Iīve stumbled upon when I was most in need of hot
water and a comfy bed, this would be the blue ribbon winner.
Itīs located in downtown Chitre adjacent to the Machetazo and
itīs easy to miss.
I think rooms were something like $20 and they were very
complete. The shower at first site looked a little shotty; light
and wavy curtain, super-calcified shower head, and a little
caterpilar on the wall. However, when I got under it, it was one
of the most delightful showers I can remember from the past
year.
There are plenty of restaurants nearby and the church in Chitre
is really neat. On the second floor of Hotel Hawaii are doors to
what appears to be a bar. In my time there, they were never
opened or unlocked, but I imagine that it would have been a cool
hang-out joint.
The outlets didnīt work for me, but all I was in need of was a
large, soft bed, some TV and some peanuts---all of which I got.
Big kudos to Hotel Hawaii. Certainly not Four Seasons, but they
do offer a complimentary pitcher of tap water on your arrival.
