picturesque town sits in the crater of an extinct volcano. Its cool, spring-like climate makes it an excellent resort
area, a longtime favorite retreat with the Panama City elite.
Famous for its Indian market featuring handcrafts, fresh
fruit and vegetables and beautiful native plants, El Valle is a
colorful mix of locals, Panamanian tourist and foreign retirees.
While you are there, you can experience a Rainforest Canopy Tour along the
picturesque waterfall, El
Macho. Ride in a gondola supported by cables through the canopy of trees for a
breathtaking panoramic view of the great rainforest. Or enjoy a scenic ride on
horseback.
Be sure to visit the painted stone, an enormous stone petroglyph with
strange images and symbols. Some say it is an ancient map of the region.
At 1000 meters above sea level El Valle enjoys the distinct
coolness of the highlands.
A well maintained, paved road to El Valle was built in 1997
making brief tourist visits to the peaceful hamlet possible.

visitor to El Valle. There are beautiful water falls, a mountain
swimming spot and verdant forests filled with beautiful birds
for the visitor to enjoy plus a man made canopy ride that
provides a bird's eye view of the tropical forest.
A feature of El Valle is the market that occurs each Sunday
featuring foods, vegetables, flowers, plants and exquisite
handicrafts created by local artisans.
There are many exciting things to do in El Valle, biking, hiking
or horseback riding in the mountains, viewing water falls or
taking a dip in a mountain pool.
Many visitors also enjoy the beaches down the mountain from El
Valle. It is only a 30 minute ride from the beach to the cool
altitudes of El Valle. You can enjoy the beach during the day
and retreat to the cool mountains for a refreshing night's
sleep.
